What am I drinking?

Here’s the common knowledge: a cup of coffee is at its best when served fresh – that is brewed fresh from freshly ground beans from a freshly roasted batch.  As an edible product, coffee also has a limited shelf life.  A roasting date communicated on the packaging would show that the supplier stands by the quality of the product. This applies for both beans, and ground coffee.  Not so common knowledge: while convenient to work with, the latter, served in the individual wrapped packages, can hide a multitude of sins, from quality of beans, to roasting dates.  It may just be our opinion, but you should probably know what it is you are drinking.  So you can ask: Is there an indication of the blends that were used?  Is there a freeze-drying date on the package? Or just stick with beans.

How about the milk, hot chocolate and other gourmet drinks?  Are the ingredients fully listed?  Is the manufacturing place noted?  Do they ever expire?  If you have a current coffee supplier, the stock you have on hand will have all of these answers.  Some you may want to investigate further, but you should be looking for a ‘yes to all’.

Your people have a pretty good nutrition education and are not willing to compromise their health. If they are not showing concern about the coffee and tea you have on hand for them, you can probably find them in the coffee shop down the street a few times a day.  They are probably there right now.

Sure, it is our business, but GreenRepublic staff really care about what we drink.  We care about what our clients drink too. Our coffee beans are delivered in bulk within 7-10 days of roasting, from local award-winning roasters. Everything else we source from Ontario suppliers that stand by the same convictions: detailed ingredients, consumer-relevant dates, minimal packaging.

Reach out, let’s see if we can help.
