Do we really need all this packaging?

We know coffee. We love it, a whole lot. But we love our city, our country, our planet a whole lot more. So we embarked on a mission to develop a sustainable business plan that would allow us to enjoy great quality coffee, in the office, without hurting our natural environment. Here is the first question we asked, and also our answer.

We all know that the convenience of individual servings of coffee has come with a great price – unnecessary resource use and considerable amounts of waste. Valuable natural resources (oil, gas and coal) are being used up to produce the various plastics, glues and inks that make up the cups, pods, pouches and capsules out there.

Then there are the greenhouse gases emitted during the production process – transportation, alteration, etc. It does not make one feel great about drinking great coffee. Which begs the question – is there a way we can enjoy our daily cup, without a huge tax on our planet?

Oh, we sure can! The answer is: reduce source harvesting. A whole lot less packaging will use a whole lot less sources. And this you accomplish by choosing the right machine to serve your office, one that will take bags of bulk freshly-roasted beans and grind them for each cup at a time. And these are the only machines GreenRepublic employs – simple, smart, adaptable. Machines that help reduce our clients’ coffee waste by at least 95%. By all standards and evaluations, that is a considerable figure.

We’re all in this together. Let’s do the right thing. Always, any little bit counts.
